Abdullah Al-Othman is an artist and a published contemporary poet born in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Upon his birth was an artistic movement that began in 1985 and continues to this moment defined by more madness and more art. Abdullah does not believe that the purpose of art is only to illustrate an issue or to apply certain wisdoms. He wants to be saved through art with the least loss. If life is his predicament, then art is his salvation. He goes to a marginal area, and treat it as a center to make things, to play and to practice art in the streets, by looking deeply into people’s faces and by his daily encounters and during sleep. Abdullah looks for questions that leads him not to answers but to other questions. His artwork starts with a question concerning life, its cycles and its effect on his and others’ existence; For him “art is life” - art means living better.
